European Dairy Farmers (EDF) is a club of modern dairy farmers to exchange experience and knowledge from farmer to farmer. EDF is impartial and independent. EDF was founded in September 1990 in Stoneleigh, U.K., the Club of European Dairy Farmers serves as a forum for dairy farmers in all European countries. International members are welcome as EDF has a worldwide perspective. The club language is English.
DLG and vTI (former FAL) were founders of EDF. Together with leading European dairy farmers the club was established in Stoneleigh (United Kingdom) in 1990. vTI (Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries) under the lead of Folkhard Isermeyer had the intention to establish a Cost of Production Comparison were all costs are taken into account. Since the mid 90ies this project has grown up to a number of data sets of 260 single farm results. Farmers within this comparison are able to compare their results with their colleagues at the EDF congress every year.
The German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) has supplied the management for EDF since its foundation. For more information and the presentations of EDF 2014 in Winterthur, see www.dairyfarmer.net on the Internet. Opening EDF 2014
